Our Story

Meet Monty — the reason Bark & Bloom exists.

Monty came into my life not long after an accident left a scar across my face. I got him as a distraction, and it worked better than expected — people stopped noticing my face and started asking about the puppy. The worst day of my life had, somehow, given me one of the best things in it.

Without that accident, there is no Monty.
Without Monty, there is no Bark & Bloom.

What I hadn't expected was to become fascinated by his coat — wavy, sun-lightened, ridiculously soft, and noticeably different from the coats of other Oodles around him. It raised a simple question: if coats behave differently, why do we care for them as though they're all the same?

I tried product after product, but nothing quite did what I wanted for a coat like his, so I decided to create what I couldn't find. For the next year and a half, I developed the formulas from the ground up, guided by one idea: the coat should come first.

Two coats, two different needs. Wavy Coat is for softer, looser coats like Monty's that can become heavy and lose their movement. Curly Coat is for denser coats that need more moisture, slip and support against tangling. That distinction became the beginning of Bark & Bloom: coat care built around the coat itself.

We formulate and fill in Australia, and believe you should know exactly what you're putting on your dog's coat. Dog shampoo isn't required to disclose what's inside it. We do anyway — every ingredient, and why it's there.

Because thoughtful coat care shouldn't be complicated. It should simply begin with understanding the coat.
